Hi everybody, my name is Kay. I call myself Kay cause in this country everything has to be very abbreviated and short, so it means the same thing, abbreviation and short. So my full name is Kayode, Kayode Mepaiyeda. It means ah, Kayode means "one who brings joy," and Mepaiyeda means "I will change the world." I'm striving towards it, I'm from Nigeria, from a little place called Ife, I-F-E. This um, if I'm going to finish it, I'm going to, let me make it concise. In Nigeria, you're from a place, where you say I'm from a place doesn't mean I'm from there, what I'm trying to say is that, in America, in Madison Wisconsin right now, if I tell people that I am from Madison Wisconsin, that means I was born here, I was raised here and I grew up here, that's what it means when I say I'm from Madison, Wisconsin. In Africa you always associate yourself with your parents, so I say I'm from Ife, that means my parents were from there, so people will always associate you, so they say "oh this the son of that soil." So, I think one of the reasons this happens is because, in Africa most of the land, most of the land is a community property. So you live in community it pulls yourself away from your rightful place in history. So that's why you always associate yourself with your birth place, your parents birth place because the land belongs to you and they. So you know all about the community and property, okay. 2 minutes more god I haven't even started yet, so I went to school in Nigeria. I went to school I had about 3 brothers and 2 sisters. From a good family, very nice people. They tried to bring us right, my brothers, is a gynocologist, my younger brother's a soldier and a very well placed official. Very high ranked guy. My older brother's a teacher my younger sister's a teacher. Well I'm here, I came to the United States in 1978 as an engineer. I went to school here, got a masters in industrial engineering at the University of Wisconsin. I haven't really done anything with it yet, ya know, I'm looking for something to do with it. Everybody else keeps telling me that I'm wasting my life but I think I'm just coming to this place, and I think I'm enjoying my life. Nobody's actually dictating what I do with my life. And I do it and I'm enjoying the things I do, and I'm kinda wholesome the way I look at life ya know, I like people, I enjoy life, I look at it as mine. The little I give to people, no the lot I give to people I to them give with, you know I like to give things to people, I meet them, ya know I love everybody I meet. But I'm not going to go out there and give my life to some corporation who will pay me, right now, 80 or 100,000 dollars with what? With no happiness. It's rubish, so I think I'm just someone who wants to enjoy life and do the things, learn, learn everyday. I learn things from friends, I learn things... I'm doing things totally unrelated to engineering and I enjoy it. I have a tv show, it's called "Kay's Music Makes." I do, sometimes I have people come in and play music sometimes, I have friends come over, I have a drum circle and what else do I do? I'm on the board of directors of the place, I'm in charge of the actual programming, so how can I explain, no no tape that, no thats not true, if you call me say "I want to be on a show here," I'll put you on. Same thing applies to my music makes, which is, I try to do it, I don't care how obscure you are, or how thick you... All I want is, if you think you can play, I'll always invite you to my music show and I'll put you on for thirty minutes, an hour, 20 minutes. What I'm trying to say to everyone is, "look here hey, be good to yourself always," thankyou.
