This is the story of my life in... what is it that I get, five minutes? Ummm a lot of what I'm going to talk about... uhhh I don't know what I'm going to talk about I'm just gonna wing it. Uhh, first of all I'm sitting in front of um my shed, which is the topic of conversation around here lately ummm it's a big part of my life because it's a monument to my belongings and to, ummm essentially what uhhh, what I perceive as being not a typical for middle class individuals to have grown up in accumulated in the course of a lifetime it's the home for my belongings and on my story is not dissimilar of the story of humankind when human beings learned how to use tools distinguishing them from any animals when we started to have tools and then you need a place to put the tools and then one told begets another and then there's an improvement over the old tool but you should save the old school just in case and before you know when you have a whole system is managing your tools in your projects and the tools begin new projects and you have to store everything so that's this is the story of humanity is the same is my story of accumulating things. The story of my life in a brief arch is that I was born on Long Island in Huntington New York and I'm thirty six years old, I spent a good deal of time on Long Island and I lived in Chicago for a little while and I lived in Boston for a little while I went to university, I went to graduate school to learn how to be a filmmaker and video maker um. I have many projects that I'm always working on and that's pretty much the sum of my life. I like to think of a person's life as being like a story and it's, I guess one of the reasons that when somebody dies We, one the reasons that work we're so gripped with that person's life the moment they die that we're aware of the arc of the story of their life we now know where it ends we didn't know previously where would end and a lot of the time I think about my own life to think about the arc That I'm on, I have no idea where it's going to end, but I'm always trying to take the trajectory of the arc where it's beginning like this and I'm always trying to push it over or manipulate it so that it ends in a different place where I perceive it to be currently on a trajectory to end. and I guess own some people are happy with the way their lives are going and I'm always trying to manipulate the trajectory which in my life is going and that in itself has become a sort of full time lifestyle and let's see how much more time I have? how much?two more minutes? wow I thought time would go faster. um well I have a sister, I have a cousin. I have several cousins, I have a sister named Katie. Katie was... Katie and her husband Jim were gracious enough to permit me to build my shed here on the property. I love my family and they also drive me crazy. I've spent a good deal of my life and perhaps a good percentage of today alone. I'm thinking about my relationship with my family and the... both the love and the frustration that close relations can engender having known somebody for so many years our whole lives. And at this point in my life I am on the journey, a sort of search for self but sometimes a search is an inward certain sometimes the search is something that you have to get in the bus and go look for. It's one of the reasons I admire the termites so much for being on a bus and doing that and that's why I bought a van very recently and would love to drop everything and follow the termites and be one of one of them. As soon as I can earn enough money to do that I'll join you. And that's pretty much my life. How much more time do I have? I don't have to? Ok. I guess that's it be in the trajectory the arc of this story is now complete thank you very much thank you.
