Hello, I'm Stuart A. I work here at the Midway in Norma Oklahoma. Just moved to Oklahoma from California about 3 months ago. And I spent my whole life in California with the exception of about the first 2 years when I was born in England and we moved across to the Unites States. Been here ever since. Let's see... Norman's kind of an interesting place. It's pretty much from what I understand an anomie of Oklahoma, meaning best place to be. So i figure I'm doing all right. But i don;t know much about this place so I'll talk a bit about California. I lived in Humbolt, California. Which is way up in northern California, almost by the Oregon border. And I went to school there for five years and got bachelor of the arts in ceramics and now I'm here in Norman getting my master of fine arts so I can hopefully teach some day at the university level. But Humbolt county is quite an interesting place. The number one export is marijuana which is obviously very illegal, but supposedly they've done surveys and tests that say that if it was a legal cash crop Humbolt county would be the second richest county in Ca behind Napa for it's wines and things so obviously its got a pretty good business going on there. Spending five years there I was, I saw a lot of the good and the bad and what goes along with a community that just really thrives on an illegal economy. The bad part is that not only is it marijuana but you get heroin and crack and you get speed and those kind of things really kind of bring people down to the level of almost primates. They don't think. All they wanna do is get that drug and they crave that and that's the only thing they know which is not a good thing. But marijuana on the other hand has so many benefits for people. Not only people who are ill with things like cancer, it helps them eat and AIDS or HIV things like that, but it's just a good thing. WHen you compare it to things like alcohol which is such a dominant drug, and it is a drug, in the society and they look at marijuana an they do classify it with other drugs that really can kill somebody it's hard for em to see the logic and reasoning behind that. Ya know, a lot of it is all governmental and if they weren't having a war on drugs there wouldn't be a need for so many politicians and bullshit artists like that, and that's all they really are is bullshit artists. There's just so many benefits like I say. People drink to get away from things and when they drink, they really.. I mean when you look at people who get raped a lot of it is due to people drinking and they have alcohol... I mean I just moved here. Humbolt State is only a really small school, 7,000 people. And I come here and there's 30,000 kids and there's already been 3 rapes and all of those were alcohol related. you're never gonna get anything in the world that says yeah this person was raped 'cause the guy was high on marijuana, it's never gonna happen. It's always 'cause somebody was wasted and they got out of hand and somebody didn't understand the meaning of no which is definitely an alcohol-related thing. Uh, what else... Ya know, it's not bad. So what else can I talk about for another minute? I don't know really.. I cut my thumb yesterday cuttin' meat, grindin' it so I chopped the top quarter inch off my thumb. Kind of an interesting thing, hurt like a bastard. What else can I talk about? That's about it. Like I say. One more minute, huh? Okay. I'll just tell a quick joke. You know the joke,. What did two condoms say to each other when they're outside the gay bar? Let you think about that one for a second or two to kill some time. So they turn to each other and they say let's go get shitfaced. So maybe no one thought that was funny. At least a few people did now. I thought it was funny the first time I heard of it. Ceramics major. I enjoy making things, I don't throw. Throwing's boring. I like to get creative with it. Distort perspective, make people think. Make that eye happy. What else? That's about it. Go San Francisco Giants.
